THE RECIPE 2oz 504King Cake 1oz strawberry syrup or puree 1oz strawberry juice 1 oz lemon juice 1oz 504Syrups Praline Dash of cane bitters THE STORY
During the height of Carnival season (and 504King Cake season), we made weekly specials based off of the flavors of our favorite king cakes from around the city. The Stuffed Strawberry Shortcake was one of our absolute favorites - so much so that it became a fixture on our limited parade menu! Our main inspiration for flavors is all things local - a strawberry king cake cocktail checks just about every box when it comes to creating something uniquely New Orleanian. With Mardi Gras over, we're entering one of our other favorite seasons - Louisiana strawberry season! This cocktail is the perfect transitionary drink to carry us straight into festival season. Be sure to reserve your bottle of 504King Cake before we close sales on March 18 - your next chance to get a bottle wont be until January 6, 2023!

THE RECIPE 2oz. 504King Cake 2oz. blueberry juice 1oz. lemon juice 1oz. coconut cream Add ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a glass. Enjoy! THE STORY
King Cake season is upon us, and with it, the release of our seasonal 504King Cake rum! Ahead of the release, we spent time behind the bar trying to recreate some of our favorite filled king cake flavors from all the local bakeries in cocktail form. We came up with so many that we've been releasing them one at a time, a new flavor each week! Blueberries & cream was one of the first and most popular of our Mardi Gras experiment, and we hope you enjoy it at home as much as we've enjoyed it in the Tasting Room! THE RECIPE
2oz. 504King Cake 1oz. carrot juice (we like to use a carrot juice blend with pineapple) 1oz. pineapple juice 1oz. coconut cream 1oz. 504Syrups Praline 5 dashes aromatic bitters Add ingredients to a shaker with ice. Rim a glass with cream cheese frosting and chopped pecans, and fill with ice. Shake cocktail in shaker, then strain into glass and enjoy! THE RECIPE
2oz 504King Cake 1/2oz coconut cream 1/2oz 504Syrups Praline 1oz lemon juice 1oz sprite, or to taste 5 dashes cane bitters Add rum, coconut cream, praline syrup, lemon juice and bitters to a shaker and shake with ice. Strain into a collins glass over ice. Top with Sprite. Optional: Rim glass with cream cheese frosting and dip into pecan sugar ahead of pouring drink. THE RECIPE 3oz 504Hibiscus 2oz passion fruit juice 1oz orange juice ½ oz lime juice ¾ oz raw sugar simple syrup ½oz 504Syrups Hibiscus Shake on ice in a cocktail shaker and pour. Serves 1. (It's strong - watch out!) THE STORY We first unveiled our recipe for the hurricane in April 2020 to #FestInPlace after all our favorite springtime festivals were cancelled. This cocktail was a fast favorite because it is such a fun twist on a classic. We based our recipe on the old-school hurricane, as opposed to the equal parts sugary and dangerous versions you might find in the French Quarter today. With an extra ounce of rum per serving than almost every other cocktail in our tasting room, ours still packs a punch, though! These have their moment in the sun (literally) during carnival and festival season. They're easy to make in big batches and perfect for #YardiGras.

How did this one take us so long?! More than one of our customers took one look at the 504Gold and said "you've got to make a cocktail for the Saints!". There's no better time than a playoff game during the 2020-2021 season. The kick from the coffee and bitters make this the perfect addition to your cocktail menu after an afternoon of tailgating with beers from your own front yard (or however you're celebrating), and the pumpkin spice adds a layer of depth perfect for the crisp feeling of football season. We had our own showdown between this cocktail and a fruity, funky, red-colored "Brady Basher" in our tasting room. Naturally, the Black and Gold won. |
