Nope! While many producers add syrups or sweetening to their product after the distillation process, 504Rum embraces the natural flavors of the rum and infusions without all the fake stuff.

At Happy Raptor, we create our flavors through infusions of real fruit and citrus, spices, and oak. We never add artificial flavors, unnecessary sweeteners, or syrups. This means when our rum makes its way to the bottle, it’s strong and flavorful - not syrupy.

Nope! This is a common misconception about our best friend rum. (And she’s offended.) There is no sugar naturally remaining in rum or vodka once distilled and they have the same calories based on their alcohol content.

How does that happen? Sugar is converted to alcohol during the fermentation process. Any residual sugar is left in the wash when the alcohol is evaporated off. If a particular rum has a high sugar content, the sugar has been added after the distillation process.

Let's play myth busters for a minute.

While 504Rum is 100% Louisiana molasses based (read: sugar), the only thing that carries over during the distillation process is alcohol. This is true of any distilled spirit. Hence, rum has no more sugar, carbs, or calories than vodka, gin, or whiskey.

However, rum gets a bad rap. As consumers, we are so used to associating flavored rums with artificial ingredients and a ton of extra syrupy sweetness. In most flavored products, ingredients like syrups, sugars, and preservatives are added at the end of a distillation process, adding all those extra carbs.

At Happy Raptor, our signature line of 504Rum is not flavored. It's infused. Every batch begins with 504Silver (a hearty, Caribbean-style white rum) and is then infused with real ingredients like whole hibiscus petals and hand-cut citrus. We never add any artificial ingredients, syrups, or unnecessary sweetening to round out the natural body of the rum and infusions.

Yes! Happy Raptor's new line of 504Syrups is non-alcoholic, and a super versatile addition to all sorts of fun treats, including lemonade, tea, coffee, sodas, and even ice cream.

In our tasting room, our priority is ensuring a welcoming experience and connecting with our community. If you're abstaining from alcohol for any reason, let our bartender know and it would be our pleasure to make you something special - alcohol free.

Yes to kids! Happy Raptor is family-friendly. There are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages like lemonade and soda on hand. We also have a changing table in our unisex restroom and a high chair, not to mention a closed-in patio where they are welcome to run wild. Please keep in mind that minors are not allowed to sit at the bar. When in the production area, minors must be escorted by an adult at all times, and little ones should hold hands or be carried. We never serve alcohol to anyone under 21 years of age. These policies are strictly enforced.

No to pets, unfortunately. Only service animals are currently allowed inside the Happy Raptor tasting room. However, we have a big rolling garage door at the front of our building and, when opened, all owners and their fur babies are welcome to hang out in that area. We also try to keep a dog bowl or two on hand. Should you prefer to hang out inside, we will gladly configure seating however you possible so you can keep an eye on your pup hanging out at the front.

No, but don't run away! Come back! Our tasting room has a large garage door and back door that, when opened, create a breeze that proves how original shotgun houses were allegedly supposed to work. We have high-powered fans, ice-cold and frozen cocktails, and boozy freeze pops in the summer to make the space as comfortable as possible. While these measures absolutely make a difference, you can always come grab your 32oz. cocktail (approx. 4 servings), freeze pops, or bottles of rum to go.

We cannot operate our own kitchen due to state regulations, but outside food is most welcome. Follow us @504Rum on Facebook and Instagram for our regular schedule of food pop-ups.

We do not keep cash on the premises. For this reason, we strongly prefer credit/debit transactions. While we will accept cash, we cannot offer change for your purchase. If you would like to request special arrangements in advance, don't hesitate to reach out to us in advance of your visit at 504-654-6516 and we will do our best to accommodate you.

No. There is no smoking of any kind or vaping allowed inside the tasting room, on the patio, or within 15 feet of the main entrance, according to city regulations. This policy is strictly enforced.

504Rum is not available for shipment directly to the consumer at this time. However, there are certain locations that carry 504Rum whose services include shipment and delivery.

​Louisiana prohibits direct-to-consumer shipments of hard alcohol. Additionally, third-party shipping partners in-state are highly regulated and, therefore, limited. We are working to establish local and out-of-state distribution and shipping partners to make this possible, but the process takes time (a lot of it) and money (a lot of it). If you're in favor of less restrictive shipping and delivery of hard alcohol in Louisiana, the best thing you can do is call or write your legislator and let them know.
